GASDS annual limit is now £8,000 per annum

gasdslimit2The start of the new 2016/2017 tax year has seen the annual limit for claiming under the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme rise from £5,000 per annum to £8,000 per annum.

Remember the GASDS year runs with the tax year, 06 April until 05 April, irrespective of your accounting year, which might be different. Fund Filer will display your current posting and claiming levels for eligible tax years on your GASDS donation entry page.

Also note that the retrospective window for claiming GASDS is only two years from the end of the year in which the donation was made. Therefore, currently, April 2014 is the furthest back you can go to still pick up GASDS on previously unclaimed donations.

The previous limit of £5,000 per annum applies to the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 years.

GASDS is one of the most common topics requiring support at Fund Filer HQ. It is covered across five articles in our Knowledge Base here.

It is not an easy topic to understand but is well worth grasping the principles as it is potentially worth and extra £2,000 income per annum to your charity, if you manage it properly.
